Chris Martenson: Deep Wealth and Transformation (E03)

A conversation with Chris Martenson, creator of the Crash Course, who like I have has moved beyond (way beyond) economics to explore systems change and narrative change. We talk about real wealth and fake wealth, community, technology, healing, and the impossible. A deep dive!

Chris Martenson, is an economic researcher and futurist specializing in energy and resource depletion, and co-founder of PeakProsperity.com (along with Adam Taggart). As one of the early econobloggers who forecasted the housing market collapse and stock market correction years in advance, Chris rose to prominence with the launch of his seminal video seminar: The Crash Course which has also been published in book form. It's a popular and extremely well-regarded distillation of the interconnected forces in the Economy, Energy and the Environment (the "Three Es" as Chris calls them) that are shaping the future, one that will be defined by increasing challenges to growth as we have known it.

  1. I love this conversation. I would take a different tack on Life providing exactly what we need. I’ve seen it as even the almost unbearable things that happen to us, Life will then take it if we let it and make it what we needed.

  2. Loved this, loved it, loved it. So powerful on so many levels, so insightful and inspirational on so many topics, a beautifully ad lib conversation. Do the radical newsletter Charles, have fun with it. The time is right. The old story has gotten so ludicrous and the things you two are saying are so blatantly sensible. The youngsters can hear it, they know it. More and more old farts are listening, too.

  3. It’s hard to espress what these podcasts mean to me- hope, i guess. we know all kinds of distressing things going on, now lets look to the More Wonderful World.

  4. Great conversation. I’ve been listening to Kunstlercast and C-Realm for a long time, as well as Transition Towns and a few Permaculture podcasts. I’ll be listening in and sharing with my 300 friends. I would love to organize a listening circle, where friends gather and do a handicraft in silence while listening to this podcast.

  5. Thanks so much Charles and Chris. Wonderful. It is SO easy to fall back into the old story and live in a magic-free, miracle-free world. It is SO easy to settle for what is. This is a wonderful invitation to live the new story, the true story of ourselves and our universe. Wonderfully comprehensive conversation! Covered all the bases! Thanks to you both and, yes, Charles, I will try to do that real work by handling everything from a position of oneness, interdependency and mutual relationships.

  6. How wonderful to listen to two of my favorite observers of our evolving world in conversation with each other. What struck me most deeply was when the two of you spoke about your difficulties in receiving. I cried thru that entire segment because for me, you had gone right to the core of what we all are missing most in this world of separation that we have created…that cyclical balance that Chris had mentioned earlier. As I see it, in these thousands of years of glorifying the dominating, calculating, imperative that is a gross distortion of the divine masculine, all of us have lost so much. Certainly, women and girls have been brutalized and enslaved in every imaginable way. But also men and boys have been pressured into the forgetting of their feminine natures to the impoverishment of us all. This time we are co-creating now of coming back into balance within our selves and with each other and all of life is a deeply precious and sacred journey. And every one of us is needed to make the world whole again. Thank you both so much for this!
